Loved the episode. Thanks!

Adding a comment to become your favo(u)rite person in the world a la podcast ;)

I wanted to extend the diamond analogy that you used - and which you sought to deepen, or qualify - to the lump of coal analogy: the diamond might ultimately appear if one is willing to 'work it' until it is formed.

Also, and to be taken with a pinch of salt: Was your comment about us getting free downloads off the internet as opposed to the cost of CDs in the past an example of "relating to control"? ;)

Hah! Not that I'm aware of. Just drawing attention to the reality we live in today. I think it's better that you can download these podcasts for free from the internet than if you had to buy them on physical CDs that were made out of plastic, wrapped in more plastic, and shipped to your house via gas burning vehicles.

The coal to diamond metaphor is interesting. It suggests that transformation requires enormous pressure, which I think is often true. But I also think there's something creative about it, and the truth is: while there are some patterns and themes, both the process and result of the transformation is always ultimately unique to the person who transforms. Every metaphor fails.

Yes, I was trying to avoid the pressure part and frame it as 'work', whatever that means to the individual. But I agree, metaphors only take us so far!

I wanted to share that I have shared a couple of these last episodes with my dad. He actually did a lot of work with people using the Myers-Brigg. I am appreciative of the many places I find 'coincidences' popping up in your podcasts.

Very good. Makes me think.

Couple of mistakes in the transcript - "controlled" where it shd be "control" twice, and one or two very small ones, missing words, repeated words, nothing major.

This is so helpful. I've just used it as context for a session this morning and it was so good. Made sure to credit you and the podcast Robbie.
